First shot of elusive “Serow”

In the month of May 2015 GHNP staff succeed to shoot the first ever photo of an elusive animal “Serow” in GHNP. Till May 2015 there was no any authentic photo of this animal. This is an Antelope found in the higher reaches of the Western Himalayas. The Himalayan serow (Capricornis thar) is a goat-antelope native to the Himalayas, and eastern and southeastern Bangladesh. It has been classified as “Near Threatened” by IUCN because it is believed to be in significant decline due to hunting for food and habitat loss
